CERTIFIED BASKETBALL SPEED SPECIALIST LEVEL 2

Separate Yourself with the Ability to Assess, Teach, and Correct Basketball Movement

FIRST-EVER, HANDS-ON, BASKETBALL-SPECIFIC FOOTWORK WORKSHOP

Join Lee Taft live in Denver and learn the Basketball-Specific Footwork Model...a complete movement literacy system designed to help basketball coaches, skills trainers, and performance professionals improve how athletes move, react, decelerate, and change direction on the court.

This hands-on certification will give you the tools to identify movement problems, apply corrective strategies, and teach basketball-specific footwork with greater precision and confidence.

Most Coaches Can Spot the Problem. Few Can Identify the Cause.

Think about how much attention basketball gives to offensive footwork...but what about defensive footwork?

A player struggles to stay attached on a ball screen.

A defender gets beat during a closeout.

An athlete can't decelerate efficiently.

A player struggles to create separation or change direction under pressure.

Most coaches see the result.  Very few understand the movement problem causing it.

That's where the Basketball Speed Specialist Level 2 Certification is different.

CBSS-2 is built around movement literacy...the ability to recognize, understand, teach, and correct the movement patterns that directly impact basketball performance.

Instead of relying on generic coaching cues like: "Move your feet", "Get lower", "Be quicker", "Stay in front".

You'll learn a systematic framework for identifying what athletes need and how to improve it.

The Result?

You Become a Coach Who Can:

  • Assess movement more effectively
  • Teach footwork with greater precision
  • Correct inefficient movement patterns
  • Improve player performance through better movement solutions
  • Communicate movement concepts in ways athletes understand

This isn't about collecting more drills. It's about developing a deeper understanding of how basketball players move...and how to help them move better.

A Common Language for Basketball Movement

You don't need to just teach offensive systems. You don't need to just teach basketball plays. You need to teach movement.

Basketball coaches have detailed language for offense.

We teach post footwork.

Shooting footwork. Ball handling. Finishing moves.

Yet when it comes to defensive movement, most coaching sounds like: "Move your feet." "Get lower." "Be quicker."

The best movement coaches use specific language tied to specific situations.

You'll Learn Movement Concepts & Footwork Solutions:

  • Snap Shuffle
  • Circle (Hug) Shuffle
  • Wedge Lateral Run
  • Fencer Shuffle
  • Waddle Shuffle
  • Stack and Trail Concepts
  • Gap Control Footwork

These aren't random drills.

They're practical movement solutions that help players understand exactly how to move in game situations.

The clearer the language, the faster athletes learn.

What You'll Learn...

  • Movement Literacy Foundations

Develop a deeper understanding of how movement influences basketball performance and why physical literacy serves as the foundation for advanced footwork skills.

  • Assessment and Testing

Learn how to evaluate movement patterns and use testing as a coaching tool—not just a data collection exercise.

  • The 7 Foundational Movement Patterns

Understand the key movement patterns that support basketball speed, agility, and efficiency.

  • Deceleration Mastery

Learn the Three-Phase Deceleration System and how to improve stopping mechanics, body control, and movement efficiency.

  • Change of Direction Performance

  • Offensive Movement Solutions

Learn how players can create separation, control pace, attack new space, and use basketball-specific cutting techniques.

  • Corrective Strategies

Discover practical methods to identify movement deficiencies and improve player efficiency through targeted interventions.

  • Programming and Implementation

Understand how movement literacy fits into player development, speed training, energy system development, strength training, and long-term programming.

Teach athletes how to attack space, escape pressure, reposition effectively, and change direction with greater control and explosiveness.

Can You Solve These Problems?

What Do You Do When:

  • A player struggles to decelerate efficiently?
  • A player changes direction too slowly?
  • A defender can't open their hips properly?
  • An athlete plays too high?
  • A player consistently loses angles on defense?
  • An athlete struggles creating separation offensively?

Most coaches recognize the issue. Few know exactly how to correct it.

CBSS-2 gives you the assessment framework, corrective strategies, and movement solutions needed to address these problems with confidence.

You'll leave with practical tools you can apply immediately with your athletes.

The Coach Behind the Coaches

Lee Taft's basketball journey began on the playgrounds of Whitehall, NY, where countless hours spent playing, competing, and studying the game sparked a lifelong passion for the sport. That passion carried him through a successful playing career as a college point guard and eventually into coaching, where he has spent decades developing players and studying every aspect of the game.

What makes Lee unique is that he brings together two worlds rarely found in one coach.

As a basketball coach and former player, he understands the game's tactical demands: offensive movement, defensive positioning, decision-making, spacing, and footwork. As one of the world's leading multidirectional speed coaches, he understands how athletes must move to perform those skills at the highest level.

This rare combination has led Lee to work with seven NBA organizations, NCAA programs, international basketball federations, and high school teams across the country. Coaches regularly seek his expertise to improve player movement, footwork, speed development, practice design, and on-court performance.

Known for his ability to simplify complex concepts, Lee helps coaches see the game and movement through a clearer lens. His teaching systems bridge the gap between knowing what to teach and knowing how to teach it.

The Certified Basketball Speed Specialist program combines more than 30 years of basketball coaching, game study, and movement expertise into a proven system that helps coaches confidently assess, teach, and correct basketball-specific footwork and movement skills.
